Is the text on dynamo london too small

Hello

I realise I can adjust the size of the text using apple+ but it seems to me that at my default setting the size of the text is just too small to read, and especially with it being in light grey as well!

It is particularly hard to read in 'what's been said'

A question of type ...

The text in the 'what's been said' section is pretty small. I wonder WHY this is?

Sorry, can you read that again?

Thanks Ross. The dynamo london team quite agree with this observation. Adjusting the size of type throughout the site is but one of the improvements that we have planned for the near future. Isn't it so typical that we designers are so frequently (but almost subconsciously I'm sure) guilty of making too many things too small for the real world?

We are introducing a number of changes over the coming weeks, some designed to make information more legible, some to make updates to the site easier to pick out, and some to make your personalised experience of the site more rewarding.

If any other dynamo london members would like to suggest other ways in which the site could be improved, or made more useful, then now is a good time to make your views known.

A question of type

Hi - I understand communication design to be about words and pictures, so how about some sort of imagery - or facility for it - to liven up the debate section of the site?

Nice thought

I quite agree, Lynda. It would indeed be nice to enable imagery to be included along with comment and debate. In fact I'd like to use more imagery and dynamic media throughout the site as a whole.

Of course it is technically possible (we expect images to be uploaded in the Projects section for instance), but file formats and file sizes can cause confusion for some visitors, and thus create upload issues, along with a variety of site performance issues.

I will definitely talk to the developers to see what could be feasible and practical, and above all useful.

Simple?

Having the system restrict uploads by format (using file extension) and file size should be the prioverbial piece of whatsname... hopefully it will be possible as I agree it would be a good facility to have, given the nature of the forum.

Hi, by the way - I'm a (currently) infrequent visitor and first time contributor!

simple? of course!

Hi Warren, welcome to dynamo london.

Actually it's not file format control at our end that is the problem, as you so rightly point out. Believe it or not it causes confusion for contributors themselves - isolating which part of an image to upload, working out a suitable image size, and understanding file formats all appear to cause problems for some people. Not all of our members are designers, and screenshots, png, and jpeg etc are alien terms, believe it or not.

That said, I definitely want to make the forum visually richer, and the above issue is a minor one I admit. So, amendments of this kind to improve the site are to be made shortly.

Many thanks for your contribution. I look forward to reading more :-)
