I love the way that the amazing displays of colour in this advert are apparently real paint. It makes an interesting change from the common trend of being tricked into thinking something is real, and then being told it is digital. Maybe it's a double bluff though...

We'd like you to rate a project for success in three different areas. Tick looks good if it is aesthetically pleasing, and tick works well if it is technically innovative. Most importantly tick performs effectively if you think it meets all of its professional objectives.

Obviously we don't really expect to see any work submitted that is no good, but you never know.

It's good but...

It's a good advert but its not as good as the rubber balls boucing down the street, which preceeded this piece in advertising the Bravia TVs.

I preferred this one

The rubber balls never really excited me that much. With this advert I was really impressed with the idea that real paint was used on a real housing estate.

The website which goes behind the scenes is either a smart and logical extension of the TV spot to extend the usefulness of the add, or a bit too clever in expecting that viewer interest will be so stimulated as to need to know more about the production, as well as enjoying the ad itself.

Jonathan Glazer, the director of this, is famous for making cinematic ads like 'surfer' for Guinness which cleaned up with awards a few years back. He is now making the dvd of ads, including the now obligatory 'making of...' scenes. Hmmm.

Does this mean that advertising is striking out in new directions, or that it is simply bankrupt?

those balls weren't real

I liked the other advert, but many of the balls in it were cg- so for me didn't have the "wow I can't believe they did that" factor.

The Tango viral which was a spoof of the balls is also very good, and worth watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qRvXh_0HbU.
